FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – The North Texas teen responsible for a drunken crash that killed four people and severely injured two others will serve no jail time.

Judge Jean Boyd sentenced Ethan Couch to 10 years of probation in December for the deadly crash. Since that time, prosecutors asked the judge to give Couch jail time for the assault charges he faced in connection with the two people severely injured in the crash. However, Judge Boyd issued the original sentence during Wednesday’s hearing, where she outlined the conditions for Couch’s probation.

The original sentence stirred fierce debate, as has a defense expert who says Couch’s wealthy parents coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility. The expert termed the condition “affluenza.”

However, Couch’s attorney, Reagan Wynn, told CBS 11’s Jason Allen that “affluenza” did not affect Judge Boyd’s decision in this case. Wynn also said that during the hearing, Couch was assigned to a rehab facility, which will be paid for by his family.

Judge Boyd ordered all media and non family members out of the courtroom before the hearing began.
